About the awards

The Full Circle and Reconciliation Awards recognises the meaningful work undertaken each day, across Queensland and the Northern Territory, to support thousands of Australians to live more fulfilling lives.

The awards reflect and celebrate the diversity of our organisation by offering the following areas of recognition for employees, volunteers and reconciliation.

Award categories

Employee

Bringing People Together Award

This person or team:

  • Fostered a culture of shared learning by role modelling and encouraging others to share their knowledge and skills to deliver better outcomes together.
  • Broke down barriers between teams through fostering trust, connection and collaboration to deliver better outcomes internally or for clients.
  • Created or strengthened partnerships (internal or external) that delivered value for the organisation and the communities we serve.

In Their Shoes Award

This person or team:

  • Took steps to really understand the issue another person/group was facing and worked with them to find a solution.
  • Demonstrated a deep understanding of another’s needs by taking the time to listen, reach out, speak out and care in a meaningful and impactful way.

You’re an Inspiration Award

This person or team:

  • Inspired others to be the best they can be by creating an environment where they felt valued and included.
  • Demonstrated a can-do attitude in the face of adversity.
  • Created a vision of what was possible and worked together with others to achieve it.

Caring and Connecting Award

This person or team:

  • Demonstrated an ongoing commitment to patient/customer/client care and wellbeing, and/or improving clinical excellence, public health and the outcomes of the people we serve.
  • Committed deeply to making our services more organised and effective through effective governance.
  • Holds high standards of care and is passionate about providing safe, patient/client-focused care.

Safe and Sound Award

This person or team:

  • Created a safer environment for individuals and the community by championing safe behaviour and practices.
  • Role modelled a safety and wellbeing mindset and encouraged others to do the same.

Go for Green Award

This person or team:

  • Identified and actioned changes to reduce our wastage, carbon footprint or reduce emissions.
  • Identified and implemented innovative solutions to help our organisation function more sustainably.
  • Went above and beyond to work collaboratively with others to champion green and sustainable practices in our ways of working and being.

Wish I’d Thought of That Award

This person or team:

  • Identified and implemented an innovative solution that positively impacted the people we serve and/or the organisation.
  • Found creative ways to overcome challenges or streamline processes.
  • Championed collaborative problem-solving to work through challenges or identify innovative solutions to enhance the customer experience and/or ways of working for employees.
 

Volunteer

Behind-the-Scenes Award

This person or team:

  • In a quiet and unassuming manner, made a significant contribution to assist the people we serve ‘live life in all its fullness’.
  • Contributes remarkably and selflessly to those they volunteer with, fostering an enriching volunteering experience.
  • Has experienced positive shifts in their own life through their volunteering work.

Changing Lives, Theirs Included Award

This person or team:

  • Through volunteering, made a significant impact in the lives of those they serve.
  • Went above and beyond to elevate the experience of those they volunteer with.
  • Has experienced positive shifts in their own life through their volunteering work.
 

Reconciliation

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Leadership Award

This person:

  • Recognises self-determination is an integral part of UnitingCare’s reconciliation values.
  • Goes above and beyond in their role to embed cultural knowledge and reconciliation into their service or function.
  • Has fostered allyship within and beyond their team.
  • Displays inclusive and respectful leadership to their co-workers, clients and/or service.
  • Has leveraged our scale and reach as an organisation through enhancing partnerships to enrich the communities we serve.

Healthy Communities Award

This person or team demonstrates the following values:

  • Relationships: fosters healthy relationships between our organisation and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
  • Respect: respects Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and advocates for services that are culturally appropriate and accessible.
  • Self-determination: as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander employee or through extensive engagement with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities takes ownership of the journey towards reconciliation.
  • Equality and Equity: delivered services and/or programs which directly or indirectly contribute positively to one or more of the national Closing the Gap targets.
